Firewood

All of the trees we remove from the golf course are hauled to the shop, were they are split into firewood and delivered to the Clubhouse and Hudson House.  The club uses about 10 cords of wood a year (in my estimation).   One full cord is a large amount of wood. It measures four feet high by four feet wide by eight feet long (4 ft. x 4 ft. x 8 ft.) and has a volume of 128 cubic feet. The amount of solid wood in a cord varies depending on the size of the pieces, but for firewood it averages about 85 cubic feet.

The cost of a cord of wood is approximately $300.  This means it would cost about $3,000 to burn fires at HCC.  Fortunately, we take care of it with wood from the property.
