Greens Update

Provided the current weather pattern holds for the next week, I am looking to start walk mowing greens the week of April 20th.  This means we will start to lower the height down to .125".  This is a tough time of year because the cool weather prevents the grass from growing.  On top of that, the sand is very abrasive to not only the turf but also the mower.  This is why we mow greens every other day rather than everyday.  Too much abrasion to the turf will certainly set us back.  Also, we mow in the afternoon because when the turf is dry, less sand sticks to the reels and pulled to the surface.  It gives us a far superior cut compared to mowing first thing in the morning.  Thank you for your patience and understanding of our required cultural practices.  You will see daily improvement and great greens in the next few weeks!
