Club Lake bank

The bank along highway 106 and Club Lake is a challenge.  Rhododendron were planted there 15 years ago.  Some of them seem to do well while others die.  I am not so sure Rhododendron was the best suited plant for this particular environment.  It is full sun, not to mention the reflection off the water.  Rhododendron are partial sun loving, understory plants. Second, they receive all the salt and heat from the road.  To try to improve this bank, we are continually adding hydrangeas to the bank.  Hydrangeas are much more salt tolerate and prefer this full sun environment.
