This week they are forecasting for highs into the 60's and 70's finally. Unfortunately there is a big chance of rain on Wednesday and things will cool back off again after that. Although the temperature may be warmer, there is a 20 mph wind blowing steadily and it is suppose to stick around for a few days making things feel a lot colder.
On the Golf course this week we will begin our hand raking process. After the fairways and rough areas are blown, our employees will hand rake and clean all the far edges of the golf course. The graden crew is back out first thing this morning working on greens, while Gary and Jerry continue a detail blowing of the course. Weather permitting we should be able to finish the graden process before the rain hits on Wednesday.
The federal government has once again delayed the use of H2B employees. This is a temporary work visa that allows people from other countries to come to the US and work based on the need and lack of labor in various parts of the US. Of course, most of these folks work in the field of agriculture (including golf courses). That said, we have a lot of work to do leading up to our early April opening. I have obtained help through a local contract services company. The downside is that these temporary workers are not trained and have not loyalty to HCC. However, it is all we can do at this point.
