Trout Stocking!

Tellico trout farms delivered over 1500 lbs of trout or roughly 2000 fish to HCC today.  In total this provided enough rainbow trout for all of our lakes and ponds.  Stocking dates are crucial because trout are so sensitive.  If we were to stock later in the season trout coming from regulated water temperatures and being placed into the warmer temperatures of the lake can be shocked and often times not survive.  For this reason it is best to stock during the spring when temperatures are cooler, allowing fish to become properly acclimated to their surroundings before the warmer temperatures arrive.  Overall this will reduce the stress on the trout, resulting in better, healthier fish for the season!
