Tree limbing started this morning on the golf course. Detail work like this has numerous benefits from improved turf quality due to more sunlight and airflow as well as visual enhancements.
This morning, holiday wreaths were hung on all of the pillars on major Club entrances. This is a nice touch for those celebrating the holidays in Highlands.
At HCC, we use water meters to measure volumetric water content in the greens. By quantifying this mark, we are able to determine when greens need to be watered and when they do not. As we go through next summer, I am really planning to dial this program in. We can learn what % water is lost through evaporation or transpiration. For example, if our goal is 15% water content, and we know we can lose 2% on a sunny, windy day, we know we would need to add water in the morning if we are getting a 16% water content that morning.
