Toro was out this morning at HCC and used a protoype machine to test the 9th fairway. This machine measures soil salinity, soil compaction as well as volumetric water content in the soil. It is a tool to help superintendents determine inputs required in addition to seeing how efficient their irrigation system is. It would cost about $18,000 to do the entire golf course. However, since this is still being tested, there of course is no charge. I hope to have the results in 2 weeks.
We are also having to fix another irrigation break on the 1st fairway. This has become standard operating procedure at HCC. These time consuming repairs take labor away from more important projects and tasks. A new irrigation system can't come soon enough!
