Golf Course Conditions

We have had a relatively productive winter/ early spring thus far despite the weather.  I am hopeful that the amount of rain this winter is not indicative of what's to come this summer!  The staff is doing a fantastic job getting the course cleaned up, greens arefied, beds edged and pinestraw put out.

Please keep in mind that it has been a cold start to spring and the greens will need more time to heal from aerification.  The ideal growing temperatures for bentgrass are 70* day temps and 50* night temps.  We have not had either this year!  Also remember that if the temperatures are ideal, it still takes 3 weeks for greens to recover from aerification.  They will be very bumpy and sandy if you plan to come to Highlands in April.  Please recall that we do all of our major aerification processes in the winter months so you are not inconvienced by a September aerification.  The temperature and weather will dictate how fast the greens recover.  Historically, we are usually in good shape by the 1st of May.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the condition of your golf course as you make plans to return to Highlands this Spring for our "Soft" opening.
