WATER!!

With the temperatures reaching above 90, it is important our bentgrass and Poa annua have plenty of water to avoid turf turning brown. In order to accomplish this with our poor irrigation system, several staff members start at 5am or earlier and we drag hoses everywhere in order to water areas that our irrigation system doesn't reach or lacks coverage. This is very time consuming. We drag roller base sprinklers (see photo) to areas out of play. Fortunately in our climate, this weather pattern is rare. However, our irrigation system is not sustainable if we were to go long periods of time with weather like this. If you play golf, the course may seem a little wet to you but this is absolutely necessary in order to keep the course green for the remainder of the season. Once again, the single row irrigation system we have over-waters fairways in order to adequately water roughs. There is simply no way around it. We do the best we can with our resources. A huge thank you to the staff who work around the clock to see to it the golf course remains green! 40% chance of rain today and a 30% chance each day this week. Maybe we will get some relief. It looks like the temps will drop too by the middle of the week.
