Hot weather stress!

The past week at HCC has been extremely hot and dry as most of you know! With the lack of water turfgrass goes through a process called wilting, this is where the cells in the plant start to shrink and can lose uniformity. During these times the grass plants become very weak, as you see below this is the result of a cart that was driven through wilting grass. Many golf courses during high stress periods will restrict cart traffic to the paths to prevent situations as you see here. Luckily there continues to be a chance of rain for the rest of the week for the highlands area!
