Below the green on the 16th hole is an area that I personally feel has been an eyesore for the last 20 plus years. During the greens renovation in 1999, it appears the old root zone was pushed to the side and used to shape the green complex. It's obvious they ran out of material and didn't want to allocate any more money to bring in additional materials to tie the area together. What was left was an awkward wetland. Many of the Rhododendron in the vicinity died because they can't tolerate that much water. Over the years, we've done a number of things to improve the look of the area, most recently incorporating wild flower seed. This winter, we are experimenting a little more aggressively with ideas to improve this wetland. Chad Stockton has taken this project on and has done a nice job so far. He found a few springs and routed them into the creek. In addition, he is pulling the banks back which which will allow us to get sod on them rather than wildflowers. Stay tuned on this project and we hope to have this looking much better by spring time.
