This morning I met with our grading contractor to look at #15 pond. At some point today, Wilson Grading will come back on site with an excavator and remove the standpipe that is currently failing. They will measure and order new pipe to rebuild it; only this time it will be rebuilt with a drain valve at the bottom of the pipe. This will allow us the ability to drain the pond when needed, without having to ruin the standpipe in order to do so. The drain valve will allow us the ability to drain the pond this winter and dredge out the far end at a time when we won't interfere with golf.
Today's standpipe removal will drain the pond entirely. The only downside is we will need to wait a few days for the Pipe to be delivered. Unfortunately, we'll all be looking at an empty pond for the better part of a week, but please know we are working as fast as possible to repair this issue and get the water level back up in this pond.
The sediment deposited in the upper end of the pond will be removed this winter.
