Practice Facility Help!

Like most golf courses, our practice tee is not as large as we'd like it to be.  The USGA Green Section once had a size recommendation for the number of round played over time compared to the ideal size of a practice tee.  In a perfect world, that size for Highlands CC is between 1.25 acres to 1.5 acres of teeing ground.  Our tee at the practice facility measures slightly more than 1/2 acre.  There's a big difference.  Because of that, we need to be really wise on how we are utilizing tee space.  Like other areas on the golf course, you can play a huge role in helping us conserve grass so the tee lasts the whole season!  We pride ourselves in maximizing the amount of days you're able to hit off the grass.  Next time you're on the practice tee, pay attention to your divot pattern to be sure you're minimizing the amount of divots you're taking.  The linear divot pattern, shown below, uses substantially less square footage of turf and even better, it heals much faster than the other two patterns!
