This weeks forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies through the majority of the week. There is a 70% chance of rain tomorrow, decreasing to a 50-40% chance for the rest of the week. Temperatures will continue to stay mild with lows dropping into the 50's at night and reaching just into the 70's during the day.
On the golf course this week we are hoping the rain will hold off for a couple days! Last week alone we more than doubled the total rainfall amount for the entire first half of the month of May. Currently have received just over 35" of rain for the season in Highlands. On average Highlands receives over 89" of rainfall a year, which in turn classifies us as a tropical rainforest. This week we will be applying our preventative grub control application. During the months of June and July, Japanese beetles, amongst other beetle species, will mate and begin to lay eggs in the soil. These eggs will hatch within 1-2 weeks after laid. Upon hatching, the egg will grow into a white grub which will feed very heavily on turf grass roots. In order to defend against this process we take a preventative approach to inhibit white grub development in the soil, while keeping turf damage minimal. Please continue to check back with us through the week for updates!
